In the bustling city of Gothika, where shadows danced with secrets and whispers echoed through narrow alleyways, there lived a tiefling woman named Jewel Greenwood. With her copper skin, delicate horns, long purple hair, and lilac eyes she stood out among the crowd, but it was her love for romance novels that truly set her apart.
In a world where crime lurked around every corner, Gerder found solace in the pages of her beloved novels. She devoured tales of passionate love and daring adventures, dreaming of a life filled with the same excitement and romance.
Despite the dangers that loomed in Gothika’s streets, Jewel remained remarkably optimistic. She believed in the goodness of people and was determined to make new friends wherever she went. Armed with her infectious smile and boundless enthusiasm, she would strike up conversations with anyone willing to listen, eagerly sharing the latest twists and turns from her favorite books.
Jewel learned how to play the hurdy gurdy after falling in love with the idea of performance. She was introduced to this instrument by a teacher in her school as kind of a “joke lesson.” However, Jewel was immediately determined to learn how to play it. She eventually began performing at small bars across town and adopted the stage name “Gerdor” simply because “Gerdor and the Hurdy Gurdy” made her cry in a fit of laughter one night. Gerdor is the type of person who does not care about the approval of others, but rather wants to simply share her joy and continue to enjoy life herself.

One day, while browsing the shelves of a dusty old bookstore, Gerdor stumbled upon a flyer advertising a small detective agency looking for new recruits. Intrigued by the idea of solving mysteries like the heroes in her novels, she decided to give it a try. After all, it sounded like the perfect adventure.
Joined by a motley crew of detectives, each with their own quirks and talents, Gerdor threw herself into her new role with gusto. She quickly discovered that real-life detective work was nothing like the stories she had read. There were no dashing heroes or swoon-worthy romances—just long hours of stakeouts and tedious paperwork.
But Gerdor refused to be discouraged. With her unwavering optimism and boundless imagination, she decided that she would just have to create the opportunity for romance herself. She made it her mission to see her favorite book tropes play out in real life between her new found family (ironic lol) and the underground criminals they were meant to investigate.
And though she had yet to find the kind of romance she craved,
Gerdor discovered something even more precious along the way—a family forged not by blood, but by shared adventures and unwavering friendship. In the end, she realized that the greatest love stories were not found in books, but in the bonds we form with those who stand by our side through every twist and turn of life’s journey
Housing
She lives in Elysia Park area in a small apartment above a bodega/store (because omg how “book plot” is that!!!) but it’s like the cozy vibes you showed and she loves it to death where it’s warmly lit, books everywhere, music sheets everywhere as she performs gigs for money to pay rent and such before joining the neighborhood watch group. She doesn’t have any roommates but she has a “forever puppy” pitbull named B

Odessa Seawright

Odessa Seawright
Race: Siren
Age: Equivalent of mid-20s in Siren years (close to Gerdor’s age)
Occupation: Baker & Bodega Clerk (works at the shop below Gerdor’s apartment)
Book Club Role: Co-founder, Heart-on-Her-Sleeve Romantic
🌊 Appearance:
- Green-tinted skin with a soft, natural iridescence.
- Scattered shimmery scales along her cheekbones, forearms, and down her neck.
- Thick, wavy seafoam-green hair she often wears in loose braids or soft buns dusted with flour.
- Large, dreamy teal eyes that always look like she’s half-lost in a daydream.
- Her voice is melodic and soft, carrying that natural Siren charm even when she’s just talking about scones.
🌸 Personality:
- Hopeless Romantic: Odessa is absolutely convinced that true love is out there and that one day her fairytale will come true. She’s read every romance novel in the shop and cries at most of them.
- Ditsy & Flaky: Forgetful and prone to daydreaming, she’s the type to burn cookies because she got caught up imagining the life of the handsome sailor on the cover of her book.
- Gentle & Sweet: She is genuinely kind, always thinking the best of people (sometimes to her own detriment). Odessa avoids conflict and is easily flustered.
🥐 Background & Life in Gothika:
- Moved to Gothika a few years ago from a coastal Siren enclave, hoping for big-city adventure and romance like the stories she grew up on.
- Started working at the bodega bakery, where she’s known for making absurdly pretty but questionably edible pastries—she’s still perfecting the “taste” part of baking.
- Met Gerdor through the bodega and instantly latched onto her, seeing her as a kindred spirit. The two founded the Book Club together after discovering their shared love of romantic literature and mystery novels.
📚 Book Tastes:
- Obsessed with historical romance, fantasy love stories, and trashy pirate novels.
- She adores happy endings and gets genuinely upset when books end tragically.
- Always suggests books with titles like “The Duke & The Sea Witch” or “Velvet Tides”.
💔 Quirks & Secrets:
- Has never been in love but is desperate to fall.
- Prone to mild magical slip-ups when emotional (teacups rattling, windows fogging, voices slightly too enchanting).
- Could easily be lured into dangerous situations by her belief in true love and happily ever after.

- Loyal to a Fault: She’d fight to the death for her friends, especially her girlfriend Akiba Alviss.
- Openly Lesbian: Fiercely proud of who she is and an activist for queer rights in the city.
📚 Book Tastes:
